ODScore Supports Adopt-a-Family Program

Posted November 29, 2017 by Jonathon Jackson

ODScore Inc. has joined once again in an annual charitable campaign of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington.

The Foundation’s Adopt-a-Family Program works to make Christmas wishes come true for local families in need.

“Within Guelph and Wellington County, there are many families who are unable to afford the luxury of gifts and special treats during the holiday season,” the Foundation says on its website. “In fact, this time of year can add extra stress for a family that is already struggling to make ends meet.

“Families are referred to the program by many social services agencies within Guelph and Wellington County. The families include single moms and dads, children being raised by grandparents, low-income two-parent families, and independent-living youth.”

There was no question that ODScore would be involved in this initiative for the fifth consecutive year.

“This year we decided to adopt an independent youth,” said Lisa Cunningham, ODScore’s Vice President of Client Delivery and HR Business Partner. “All of the team rallied together to make this happen. It’s really inspiring and humbling to see the generosity of the folks that we rub shoulders with every day.”

ODScore employees and consultants donated nearly $500 worth of clothing, gift cards, and other items, all of which will be given to the youth for Christmas.

“We hope he can put these items to good use and enjoy some meals and movies and the clothing to keep him warm and dry this winter,” Cunningham said.

Last year, 1,114 families and youths were referred to the Adopt-a-Family Program. Thanks to the generosity of more than 1,000 donors and donor groups, the Foundation was able to provide personalized gifts to 2,396 children and youths, based on their needs and wishes.

ODScore has been active in community Christmas initiatives dating back to 2012, and continues to seek out opportunities to be a good corporate citizen in Guelph and Wellington.

“We’re all about connecting with purpose, and this gives us the opportunity to connect with purpose within our community,” Cunningham said.

“We look forward to this every year. It warms the hearts of everybody on our team, knowing that we’re making a contribution back to the community that we serve.”
